CROPPED MELODIE HERRON

MELODIE HERRON

Melodie is a skilled singer as well as a natural dancer, both of which she loves to do. Most recently, she performed at a showcase at the Rhythm Lounge in Long Beach, California. In addition, she performed with her dancers, Keverlie and Caitlyn, at the Mixed Nuts Comedy Club and 2 showcases at the Normandie Casino. She has also showcased at B.B King’s in the Universal City Walk by singing, harmonizing and dancing with three other young artists. For the past few years, she has assisted other friends by singing and harmonizing background on tracks for both a gospel and a hip hop CD. Among her influences are Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, and Beyoncé.

Melodie Dionne Herron was born in Jackson, Mississippi to a musical family. The Herron family relocated to the Southern California area in 1983. From the age of three, Melodie expressed an interest in singing, playing piano and writing melodies. She always knew that she would be a singer and entertainer. To accomplish her dream of being a recording artist, Melodie prepared herself by studying and listening to Classical, Pop, R&B, and Hip Hop music.

At six, Melodie sang solos and harmonized in a group with her brother (Misty) and sister (Keverlie) at church. From ages seven to twelve, she sang in school musicals and talent showcase competitions in the local Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) after-school program in which she won first place singing “Two Different Worlds”. She made numerous performances throughout the city on behalf of VAPA. On entering high school, she became a cheerleader and sang the National Anthem before sports events. Since Melodie is a natural gifted dancer, she and her sister were asked to choreograph and teach other students to perform original dance routines to popular R&B tunes for the school musicals. Since high school, she cultivated her performing skills by taking voice and classical piano lessons along with modern and hip hop dance at local community colleges, and she is currently attending college to complete her career goals. She plans to continue to enhance her singing and piano skills with more vocal and piano study as well as enhancing her dance and hip hop skills at the Millennium Dance Studios in Santa Monica.
